Abbotsford, BC – August 21st 2019. Manure separators are an essential part of the manure management on many dairy farms. In today’s day and age dairy farmers can choose from a variety of models and brands, depending on their specific needs and preferences. Manure separators are available for almost any herd size and treatment capacity. Farmers use them for mobile or stationary applications, and can configure the separators specifically for flush or scrape manure. As an expert in manure separators we would like to provide you some guidance on which Trident separator is suitable for what application.
Manure separators for each application
Rotary Screen Separator: This is our go-to equipment for first stage manure separation. Available as 36” and 48” model and with different screen sizes to target the desired solids size, the rotary screen separator is suitable for all types of bedding material, including sand, and performs in both flush and scrape manure conditions. It is also suited in front of a anaerobic digester system as a thickener and dewatering unit.
Screw Press Separator: For high dry matter results, we recommend to dewater the separated fiber with a Trident screw press separator. Trident provides the equipment in different sizes with processing rates of 1,500 to 30,000 lbs per hour. After this treatment, the dewatered fiber is ready to go to storage or back to the barns.
Roller Press Separator: As an alternative you can also use the Trident Roller Press to dewater the separated fiber. The durable and effective manure separator, specifically designed to improve the manure management on dairy farms. We see the most effective results when the roller press is placed after a primary separator. The press can reduce the moisture content to 72-80%.
DAF Separator: A Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) system provides an effective downstream treatment. In combination with a flocculation agent a DAF separates the fine solids that remain in the effluent after primary treatment.
Wave Separator: The Wave achieves great fine solids separation in combination with a flocculation agent. Compared to a DAF system, the Wave is a more suitable option for lower treatment requirements and smaller available footprint.
MD Press Separator: The MD Press is the most efficient option to dewater the thickened sludge cake coming off the DAF separator.
