Trident has been fortunate and honoured to be involved with a group of visionary people that put an unbelievable effort in progressing the state of technology in modern dairy farming. Prairies Edge Dairy and Midwestern Bio Ag have been working on a game-changing project that allows the concentration of nutrients from dairy cow manure to produce an organic-based fertilizer at commercial scale. On June 16, 2017 Midwest Bio-Ag invited to an Open House at the new Fertilizer Plant to celebrate the project completion, showcase process details and present its TerraNu fertilizer products.
With a number of locations across North America it is always exciting to gather the whole Trident team for a few days. This year’s annual company meeting at our head office followed the theme “Doing the Right Thing”, which has been one of Trident’s core values from the beginning. “Doing the Right Thing” is a reflection of our commitment to our customers while providing industry leading solutions. The team was also excited to learn about some game-changing technology advancements that are currently in the R&D pipeline.
A successful day one is wrapped up at World Pork Expo in Des Moines. Many hog farmers have connected with us to learn about ways to improve lagoon management and reduce their operational costs. Trident recently expanded their line of sludge dewatering equipment with a high capacity MD Press 454. The MD 454 is Trident’s largest dewatering press. A single unit can process 250,000 gpd with up to 4,000 lbs ds/min throughput. The press features four dewatering cylinders, each powered by a 1.5KW motor. The cylinders are strategically designed to allow efficient thickening and dewatering in a single operation. Maintenance requirements are drastically reduced due to its self-cleaning design. Trident recommends a 10,000 hr service interval.
Trident’s nutrient recovery system at Seabreeze Farms in Delta, BC represents the leading standard in commercially available technology for nutrient management and recovery for livestock operations. The automated system has been in operation for more than two years. The technology allows the farm to manage their waste stream (dairy cow manure and off-farm material like food waste, which is anaerobically digested) more efficiently.
