Trident Processes Inc. Receives Prestigious 2018 Canadian Business Excellence Award for Private Business.
Trident’s growing team notches an award for innovative technology and excellence in running a business.
ABBOTSFORD, BC, Canada – October 04, 2017 – Trident Processes has received the prestigious Canadian Business Excellence Award for Private Businesses given annually to 25 private businesses in Canada.

Trident has commercialized an innovative process for recovering and repurposing valuable resources from animal livestock manure and municipal wastewater. Its processes recover nutrients and other valuable resources, a growing need in both the agricultural and industrial wastewater industries. The company has grown exponentially the past three years capturing important clients in Canada and the USA, including two or three of the most influential dairy farms in both countries.
Recognizing exemplary performance
The award is presented by Excellence Canada and PwC Canada. This special designation recognizes businesses that demonstrate exemplary performance of strategic plans and exceptional achievement of business goals. Applicants are evaluated by the Canadian Business Excellence Award adjudication committee from organizations that include BC Business Magazine, CEO Global Network, Canadian Federation of Independent Business, Carleton University, CPA Canada, MaRS, PwC Canada, and Excellence Canada.
“I continue to be amazed at the level of exposure our company has been able to achieve the past couple of years,” states an exuberant Kerry Doyle, CEO of Trident Processes, at the posh awards ceremony held at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, Ontario. “Who would have thought a small company that provides processes for dairy manure and municipal wastewater would be receiving an award alongside big consulting firms, bankers and IT professionals. It shows the importance of the work we are doing. Just tonight we saw a Toronto’s business TV newscast do a piece about the destructive affects algae blooms caused by agriculture have on Lake Erie. Since our technology directly diminishes those kinds of problems, we know are definitely in the right spot.”
This award follows another innovation award presented by the EPA and USDA at the White House in Washington DC, in April 2016 for the same processes. In July 2016, Kerry Doyle was invited by the Honourable Ed Fast, Vice Chair of the Canadian Parliamentary Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development to speak to the Committee about Trident’s technology and the benefits it has for clients and the environment. The Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development studies the programs and legislation of Environment Canada, Parks Canada and the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency as well as reports of the Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development.
Promoting sustainable practices
Trident’s technologies appeal to those innovative adopters who are looking for ways achieve sustainable practices, who need better resource recovery systems that are good for the environment and protect or even add to the bottom fiscal line. Trident’s nutrient and resource recovery processes are in lock-step with those ideas and provide a way for clients to achieve their goals quickly.
Although Trident’s technologies had their inception in the agricultural sector, there has recently been keen interest in their technology from the municipal wastewater sector, including an opportunity to pilot Trident’s efficient sludge dewatering equipment at a 1 billion gallon/day wastewater treatment plant in the Mid-West. “It’s still too early to publish,” says Doyle, “but we, and they, are very pleased with the results and the data will be available for publication soon. It has tremendous implication for the wastewater industry, because our technology has the potential to save municipal wastewater districts so much money operationally.”
